Top Ten of 2018

I can't believe we are saying goodbye to another year. Goodness, 2018 seemed to go by quickly.

It was an amazing card making year for me. I got the opportunity to work with so many wonderful companies and joined the Love From Lizi design team. Thank you to all my followers for a terrific 2018 year. I appreciate all the encouragement and kind words. I wish everyone a happy and healthy 2019.

I decided to put together a slide show featuring the cards I made in 2018. (At least the cards I photographed.) You can watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

It's always fun to look back at my ten most viewed blog posts for the year. I guess it's no surprise that all of them are 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial posts.

Floral Thanks - Queen & Company

Hello friends! I've been so busy with kit and 6x6 videos lately that I haven't really made a card just to make a card.
It's always a good idea to have some Thank You cards handy, especially after the holidays. I've been wanting to try this MFT sketch, but didn't have an idea for it until recently. I thought replacing the small rectangle boxes with sentiment die cuts would be a fun twist on the sketch. And with all the gloomy and rainy weather in Western Washington lately, some pretty flowers adds some nice cheerfulness.

Queen & Co Gumball Shaker kit and Candy Land 6x6 paper pad - 27 cards 1 kit

Hello friends! My kiddos have only 1 more day of school left for the year, so I figured I'd squeeze out another video. With the holidays, I will be taking a short break from videos. (Except for any design team commitments.)

For this set of cards, I used Queen & Company's Gumball Shaker kit. This is an older kit, but I only recently picked it up at their Queen for a Day event. The kit does not include a paper pad. Queen & Company sells their 6x6's individually, so I bought the Candy Land collection since it coordinates perfectly.

I donate cards regularly to a local retirement home. I think most of the cards will be perfect for Valentine's Day cards, especially with all the sweet sentiments. It's always nice to get a head start on holiday cards.

I used my 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial to make 27 cards.

Because it takes many hours to use up a 6x6 paper pad, this video has been sped up 7 times. The real time recording was just over 5 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cutting time. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

In addition to using the 6x6 paper pad, I also used 2 sheets of  8 1/2" x 11" and 12 sheets of  12" x 12" solid colored cardstock.

Cardstock colors -
Velvet - Bazzill
Navajo - Bazzill
Primary Yellow - Coredinations
Easter Grass - Bazzill
Berry Sensation - Bazzill
Plum Pudding - Bazzill
Boysenberry Delight - Bazzill
Black - Recollections

Here are close up pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home and some Mojo Monday sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Queen & Co. Gumball Shaker kit and Candy Land 6x6 paper pad.

Cards in Envy - Hang Your Stocking with Care

Hello friends! It's time for a new card challenge over at Cards in Envy. The theme is Hang Your Stocking with Care. Create a card featuring a stocking, or what you might find in your stocking.

I own a ton of Christmas stamp sets, but not one with a stocking. Then I remembered the Queen & Company Happy Holly Days kit that I recently used. It has a stocking die and lots of fun sentiments. The die coordinates with the foam and acetate pieces included in the kit. But it also works perfectly as a non-shaker card.

Paper - Carta Bella - Merry & Bright collection
Stamp - Queen & Company
Stocking die - Queen & Company
Specialty paper - Love From Lizi
Ribbon - May Arts
Ink - Reverse Confetti

Be sure to check out the rest of the Cards in Envy design team's cards. I'd love for you to play along with our card challenge. Just remember to keep your card fairly flat so it fits nicely in an envelope.

Echo Park Coffee collection - 33 cards from one 6x6 paper pad

Hello friends! As much as I love using all the amazing monthly card kits, sometimes it's just fun to grab a 6x6 paper pad and some random supplies to make cards. I'm used the Coffee collection from Echo Park this time. I really like the color palette and lovely designs in the the collection. Plus, I own several coffee related stamp sets that worked perfectly with it.

I used my 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial and one paper pad to make 33 cards.

Because it takes many hours to use up a 6x6 paper pad, this video has been sped up 7 times. The real time recording was just over 4 1/2 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cutting time. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

In addition to using the 6x6 paper pad, I also used 17 sheets of  8 1/2" x 11" and 7 sheets of  12" x 12" solid colored cardstock.

Cardstock colors -
Black - Recollections
Peach - Darice
Mediterranean - Darice
Moonstone - Coredinations
Victorian Velvet - Coredinations

Here are close up pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size.
