You're Giraffing Me Crazy

When MFT released an entire stamp set of just giraffes, of course I had to buy it. And it made my daughter super happy too, since she loves giraffes. The sentiments included in the set are so fun. I have no idea who I will give this giraffe card to, but I couldn't resist using this sentiment.

Celebrating Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! While we all enjoy our extra day to relax or spend with family, let's not forget the real meaning of today. Remember those that have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. And say thank you to all who have served and are still serving our country. I am truly grateful and pray God will protect you and your families. Thank you!

My Favorite Things Sketch #334

I have always loved pink and brown together. When my daughter was a baby, her nursery was decorated in those colors. At that time, pink and brown together was super popular. It was easy to find nursery decor and darling baby girl clothes in those colors. I don't see pink and brown being used together very often anymore. But it's always fun to create a card using that color combination.

You are Out of this World

Have you ever made a card that was just super fun to create? This was definitely one of those cards for me. My daughter and I absolutely love the color pink. We share a craft room and it is filled with pink stuff. Even some of the walls are painted pink. So when I pulled the Out of this World stamp set from Lawn Fawn, I was envisioning a pink universe with pink planets and pink stars. However, when I started pulling out papers and markers, I just didn't have enough coordinating pink colors. So, I changed it to a Universe of Purple instead. (With some pink touches.)

Mojo Monday Sketch #498

I think winter is officially over here in the Pacific Northwest. In fact, it has been feeling a lot like summer lately with temps in the 80's. (That's rather warm for around here.) I've also been seeing lots of Red, White, and Blue merchandise in the stores, which means the Fourth of July is just around the corner. I decided to use some patriotic colors for the newest Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

Grateful - MFT sketch #323

I still needed several more Thank You cards to donate to my church, so I looked through my small stash of 12 x 12 paper. I found a few packets of the Project Life paper by Becky Higgins. The company hasn't sold 12 x 12 paper for several years now. But they used to have quite a few different collections. I love Project Life and use it as the main source for my scrapbooking.

Happy Graduation

It's hard to believe graduation time is right upon us. My kids won't be graduating for several more years, but many of my friends' kids are graduating from high school this year. I decided to get a few cards made using some cute Doodlebug paper and an Operation Write Home sketch.

Cards in Envy - Favorite Color Combo

Welcome to a new card challenge from Cards in Envy. The theme is Favorite Color Combo. Use your favorite 2 or 3 color combinations to make a card and it can be for any occasion.

I don't really have a favorite color combination. As long as pink is included, I'm happy though. For my card, I decided to use pink and gray together. And how fun is a pink giraffe!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

Western Washington has had A LOT of rain lately. I really don't mind the rain, but goodness, it has been wet around here. I think we are all ready for a solid week of sunshine.

My mother and mother-in-law also live in Western Washington, so I figured they would enjoy a pretty spring card for Mother's Day.

Happy Anniversary to my Hubby

My husband and I recently celebrated our 20th Anniversary. We went on a little kid-free getaway. It was so relaxing and the weather was just perfect.
For my husband's card, I used a chevron cover-up die cut and this fun camera stamp set from My Favorite Things. I'm a hobbyist photographer and I love any opportunity to use this stamp set.

Thanks so Much

My church recently had a giant yard sale to raise funds to support local missions. I was asked to make Thank You cards to give to all the volunteers who helped out at the sale. When making multiples of the same card, I like to use 12 x12 pattern paper. Although I have very little 12 x12 paper since I really prefer 6x6 paper pads.
I used a sketch from Operation Write Home and made 18 cards.

Kindness, It All Starts with Us

I made another batch of Kindness cards. Since I like to mail the cards, I keep them fairly flat so I don't have to pay extra postage. I die cut the word 'Kindness' and added some pretty Lawn Fawn watercolor paper behind it. A few punched butterflies were the perfect finishing touch without adding any extra bulk to the card.

Mojo Monday sketch #495 - Teacher Appreciation

It's Teacher Appreciation Week here in the United States. I have 2 kids in school, plus I volunteer weekly in my daughter's classroom. I have a true appreciation for our teachers and everything they do for our kids. I made some cards to give as a small thank you for their dedication. (I've also included a small gift.)

Doodlebug's At the Zoo 6x6 cards

Once again, Doodlebug Designs released some darling 6x6 paper pads. I'll admit I simply can't resist their papers. They make such cute stuff! I decided to use my 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial with the At the Zoo collection. I just love all the sweet zoo creatures in the paper pad. I did have to hide the 6x6 from my 7-year old daughter, since she LOVES giraffes and may have swiped the giraffe papers from me. No worries though, I did buy her a couple 12 x 12 sheets of the giraffe paper.

Usually, Doodlebug 6x6's have a nice mix of pattern and tone on tone papers. For my style of card making, I like to use the tone on tone papers for the background of my cards. But I noticed there weren't as many tone on tone designs in this paper pad. Because I mostly used solid colored cardstock for the backgrounds, I ended up with quite a few cards. A total of 47 cards were made using one 6x6 paper pad.

I recorded my entire process of disappearing the 6x6 paper pad. The video is sped up 8 times since the full recording time was around 5 1/2 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cut time. I have been asked several times if I record my 6x6 videos all in one day. And the answer is no. It usually takes me about 3-4 days. It just depends on how busy my life is that week. (While watching the videos, you may notice my shirt sleeves change a few times. 😁)

In addition to using the 6x6 paper pad, I also used 17 sheets of 12" x 12"  and 16 sheets of 8 1/2" x 11" solid colored cardstock. Here are all the leftover scraps.

Here are the pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Doodlebug's At the Zoo 6x6 paper pad.
