OWH Finishing Strong Bloghop

Welcome to my stop on the final Memorial Day bloghop for Operation Write Home. OWH, a charity that has supported heroes with handmade cards since 2007, will be closing later this year. All cards need to be sent in by August 1st, so I'm helping get the word out. With more and more service  members coming home, the need for cards has decreased significantly. But OWH wants to Finish Strong for their final months, so keep making those cards to help them complete their mission.

The theme for the hop is to make a Red, White, and Blue card using an OWH sketch. I chose sketch #200 for my card and had fun with some watercolor paints.

sketch - OWH #200
paper - Doodlebug - Patriotic Parade
circle stamp - Lil Inker Designs
sentiment stamp - Reverse Confetti
watercolor paints - Kuretake

W2SB - Say Cheese card challenge

I just discovered this fun challenge blog today, Words 2 Scrap By. Their May challenge is to make a project inspired by the phrase 'Say Cheese'. I just couldn't resist a photography related challenge since I'm such a HUGE shutterbug. I'm not quite ready to cut into a new 6x6 paper pad, so I pulled out this fun 12 x 12 camera paper from Bella Blvd to make my card.

Authentique's Playful 6x6 cards

Another 6x6 paper pad has been finished to make cards. I made a total of 24 cards using Authentique's Playful collection. If you're new to my blog, HERE's the link to my 6x6 paper pad tutorial.

And here's the group shot of all the cards.

Please see previous blog posts for details on individual cards.

I Love You Deer

This card went a completely different direction from what I was first planning. But I think the finished card turned out great. I wanted to use some of the pattern paper scraps to paper piece the little deer, but none of them worked well against the yellow design. So I simply stamped the deer on the same yellow cardstock as the background and lightly colored it with colored pencils. I made 2 of these cards.

Sweet Sunday sketch #265

I worked on a few more cards using the Authentique 6x6 paper pad. I'm getting pretty close to finishing it off completely.

Quilt Cards

This quilt die from My Favorite Things is one I reach for often lately. It's so easy to use and makes such bold and beautiful cards. So far, I have only mixed three different papers for the quilt, and I really like that look.

May - ODBD card challenge

The May challenge for the OWH Our Daily Bread Designs is Embossing. It can be either dry or wet embossing. I used wet embossing on both the owls and the sentiment and I used dry embossing on the background paper. After embossing the owls, I pulled out my watercolor paints and did my best to match the colors to the patterned papers. The two cards are the same, but I did paint them slightly different.
