Happy Birthday, Penny!

The years really fly by so quickly. I can't believe my baby girl turned 6 years old today. She is such a blessing to me everyday. She loves to craft, read books, play with Parkey (her stuffed giraffe), and she LOVES pirates. I'm not sure exactly when the pirate-thing started, but it was probably after she saw the show, 'Jake and the Neverland Pirates'. She'll be having a pirate themed birthday party, so I figured I'd also make her a pirate card. (With a little sparkle, of course.)

Here's the inside message with more sparkle.

Fairy Birthday

I recently purchased this fun chevron background die cut. This was my first time playing with it and I really like it. I decided to use some pretty shimmery papers for the background. Then I used some watercolor paints for this sweet little fairy. There's lots of glittery shimmer on this card. Perfect for a little girl's birthday card.

Twas the Night Before Christmas card challenge

Only one more week until Christmas! I made sure to leave myself a little crafty time to participate in the Words 2 Scrap By 'Twas the Night Before Christmas card challenge. I thought the Santas would be the perfect focal point for my card. I used a circle punch to cut them out of a sheet of patterned paper and added a little glitter pen to the glowing candle light.

Mojo Monday Sketch #427

Eek, it's been over a month since I have done a blog post. I've had very little crafty time lately. Such a busy time of year. Plus, my 5-year old daughter has been rather adventurous over the past few weeks. She's managed to bonk her head 4 times in two weeks. Once required a trip to the ER. She's just fine now, but goodness, so stressful.

I've finished my Christmas cards and even mailed them out today. But I thought I'd do just one more to go with the latest Mojo Monday sketch.

Doodlebug's Home for the Holidays - 37 cards from one 6x6 paper pad

It's getting closer to the holiday season. Have you made your Christmas cards yet? I got a really good start on mine using Doodlebug's Home for Holidays 6x6 paper and my 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial. I made a total of 37 cards. This is actually a lot for me since I generally average 20 - 30 cards per 6x6 paper pad.

I have had several requests to make a Christmas themed 6x6 tutorial video, so I made sure to get one done well before the holiday.

I used 25 sheets of solid cardstock. ( 11 - 8 1/2 x 11 and 14 - 12 x 12)  I had very few scraps leftover this time since I made several quilt cards at the end.

Here are the pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Doodlebug's Home for the Holidays 6x6 paper pad.

Echo Park's The Story of Fall - 30 cards from one 6x6 paper pad

Autumn has always been my favorite season. I love the crispness of the cooler temperatures and the glorious changing colors of the leaves. So, I tend to buy quite a few fall themed 6x6 paper pads every year. And since I always have a need for Thank You cards, I decided to dedicate one 6x6 entirely to making Thank You cards using my 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial. I used Echo Park's The Story of Fall to make 30 cards.

And just for fun, I decided to make another 6x6 paper pad tutorial video.

Here are all the leftover scraps. I also used a total of 19 pieces of solid cardstock. (Mostly 12 x 12)

Here are the pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements.
