Fight Like a Girl

This card was definitely harder to make than any card I've made in the past. Not because of the design. Because of the reason for it. My younger sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has just begun her 4 month chemo treatments to fight this disease.

OWH - MWT - Teal or Turquoise color challenge

I made cards for 2 different challenges today. The first is for Operation Write Home's Midweek Throwdown. It's a color challenge of teal or turquoise. How perfect, since there is some turquoise in the current 6x6 I'm using.

OWH sketch #213 card challenge

For the new Operation Write Home sketch, I did a little bit of paper piecing on these cute Hero Arts bears. I think there may be a bit too much blue going on, but I think it still turned out cute.

OWH - MWT - Let Your Light Shine

This week's Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown is to include something with light on a card. (Ex. lighthouse, sun, moon, light bulbs, lamps. etc.) I decided to paper piece this light bulb from Paper Smooches.

Cards in Envy - Red, Pink, and/or White

Welcome to another fun card challenge over at Cards in Envy. It's a  RED, PINK, and/or WHTIE color challenge this time. Use one color or all three as the main colors on a card. I included all three colors and also a thin layer of black for contrast.

OWH sketch #212 card challenge

It's time for a new sketch over on the OWH Stars and Stamps blog. I tried to make both a masculine and feminine card using the same sketch and same 6x6 paper pad. What do you think, does it still work as a masculine card even with the pink cameras? Hmmm, maybe not.

OWH - MWT - Punny cards

Happy Valentine's Day! While the kiddos were in school, I enjoyed some crafty time for myself today. The first card is for OWH's Midweek Throwdown Punny cards. I am almost out of the 6x6 I've been using, but this sketch worked well with some of the leftover scraps.

OWH - MWT - Hexagons

This week's OWH Midweek Throwdown is to use Hexagons on our cards. What perfect timing, since I just finished making 18 kits for a card-making class I'll be teaching at my friend's co-op next month. It's an all girl class with ages from 4th to 6th grade. So I think they'll enjoy making this card. And the reverse side of the patterned paper is pink, so they'll get a choice of which color to use.

Cards in Envy - Love is in the Air

Welcome to the first Cards in Envy challenge of February. It seems fitting to have a love card challenge, don't you think? I decided to use non-Valentine colors for my card just for something different.

Reverse Confetti - Sketch #9

With the Superbowl playing and my husband and son watching it, I had a bit more crafty time today. Yay for me! I decided to try the new Reverse Confetti sketch and do a little paper piecing on the cute coffee cup.

Card Bowl 2014 - Challenge #3

The third and final challenge for the OWH Card Bowl is to make a masculine card using Sketch #210. I made a love card, but since there aren't any flowers or ribbons, I think it works as a masculine card.

Card Bowl 2014 - Challenge #2

The second challenge in the OWH Card Bowl is this month's ODBD challenge. It's a color challenge requiring the use of brown as the main color on the card. I didn't use any patterned papers for my card, just some scraps of cardstock.
