Happy Birthday to my Girl!

Happy Birthday to my sweet girl. I can't believe she's 5 years old already. This is the card I made for her. Since it's not going to Operation Write Home, I added some pretty sparkly glitter and thicker dimension.

Here's a closeup of the glitter on the flower.

Hello Little Fox

This card is being sent to someone I know who has had a very rough year in 2014. I wanted her to know she is appreciated and to wish her blessings for 2015. She likes foxes, so I thought this sweet little paper pieced fox would put a smile on her face.

Some Birdie Misses You

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone! I found a little time yesterday to get crafty, so I decided to work on the current OWH challenges. The ODBD challenge is to use primary colors and the Mid-month Throwdown is to make a Missing You card. It was fun to use a new Reverse Confetti die cut I received from a crafty friend recently. I also did some paper piecing on the cute little birdie with a touch of Glossy Accents on his eyes.

OWH sketch #244 card challenge

Now that my Christmas cards and 6x6 card tutorial video are done, I can start on a new 6x6 paper pad. I chose Echo Park's We are Family and used the recent Operation Write Home sketch for the first card. This cute little alligator is paper pieced and I added a touch of Glossy Accents to his eyes.

Doodlebug's Frosty Friends 6x6 cards

I actually finished this Doodlebug 6x6 paper pad a couple of weeks ago. But since I hadn't sent out my Christmas cards yet, I held off with my blog post. I used Doodlebug's Frosty Friends to make 21 cards.

Check out my 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial video HERE.

Doodlebug's Lovebirds 6x6 cards

Another fun Doodlebug 6x6 paper pad has been used up completely. This time I used Doodlebug's Lovebirds and made 27 Love cards for Operation Write Home. These were so fun to make, especially with all the pretty pink papers.

Thanks to a little convincing from my friend, Sandy, I videoed my process of using up a 6x6 paper pad. HERE's a link to my tutorial. The video was done in super speed, but still ended up being 30 minutes. (It takes awhile to finish up a 6x6.) But, it's definitely kinda fun to watch. And a big thank you to Sandy for all her work editing this video.

Here's the big group shot of all 27 cards. Individual pictures are also included with a list of all the products used for each card.

Welcome to my stop on the Operation Write Home Red Friday Bloghop! If you’ve gotten here without starting at the beginning, you’ll want to click HERE and start from the top. We’re turning “Black Friday” into “Red Friday” by supporting our nation’s heroes!

Operation Write Home is a charity that sends blank handmade cards to service members deployed overseas. They’ve sent nearly 3 million cards! That’s a lot of letters and love heading home to those who are keeping the home fires burning.

November through February are the slowest months for OWH, and that’s something we as crafters can do something about! We all have a handful of cards in our stash — we don’t even need to take a break from our holiday preparations to just write Operation Write Home on the back and send them in, right? That’ll keep our heroes busy writing home during a long winter away from home.

Be sure to read the information on the Stars and Stamps post so you send in what’s needed (no Christmas cards, no glitter, A2, etc) - and make a hero’s day by giving them a beautiful creation to write home on!

What’s a bloghop without prizes? See the Stars and Stamps post for the full list of goodies by the bloghop sponsors - and go link up YOUR love card there, too! There are prizes for both those who comment on the blogs as well as folks who share their own creation!

The next stop on the hop is…. Laura Bassen.

OWH - November's Midmonth Throwdown

Can it really be the middle of November already? It has definitely been feeling more like winter than fall here in Western Washington. Brrrr! We're not used to temperatures in the low 20's here.

The theme for this month's OWH midmonth throwdown is to make a winter love you card. Since the deadline for winter cards is December 31st, there is still time to play with those snowflakes and snowmen.
