OWH sketch #183 card challenge

I got to enjoy some crafty time away from home today at a LSS with some friends. I mostly assembled some card kits I had previously made, but I did mange to make a few new cards, as well. The first one was this week's OWH sketch.

OWH MWT - Christmas in July card Challenge

Once again, I'm a bit behind on card challenges. Yesterday, the kids and I enjoyed time with my younger sister and her family up at Mt. Rainier. You just can't beat a view like this.

I did manage to finish my card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Christmas in July challenge early this morning. I generally don't even think about making Christmas cards until at least September. And I may have to continue making them, because now I've cut into a new 6x6 and it will drive me crazy knowing it's not finished.

OWH sketch #181 card challenge

I'm running a bit behind on my card challenges this week. My summer's been a little crazy busy trying to keep kiddos occupied. Plus, my younger sister and her family are visiting from out of state, so we've been spending time with them, as well. But, I did manage to sneak some crafty time in today to do the OWH sketch.

Cards in Envy Layers Card Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome to a fun card challenge by Cards in Envy. This week I am a guest designer and starting in August, I will be part of the design team for Cards in Envy. I'm so excited! The second challenge for July is to used layers on your card.  In my first card, I tried to use only 3 layers, not including the card base. It's definitely more difficult than I anticipated.

die cut - Paper Smooches
embossing folder - The Paper Studio
stamps - The Stamps of Life

I decided to include a second card, this one with some nice bold matting layers.

OWH Midweek Throwdown - Masculine cards

This week's OWH MWT is to make Masculine cards for our heroes to send home to their friends and families. I bought this stamp many months ago specifically to make some masculine cards, but today was the first time it saw any ink. This sketch is one posted by Sandy Allnock quite awhile back, and I'm sorry, but I don't have the link anymore. (I'm actually old-fashioned and I print my sketches rather than save them into a computer file.)

OWH Lego Card Tutorial by Julie

The tutorial on Operation Write Home's blog is how to make Lego cards. Julie is the talented card-maker behind this tutorial. You can view her blog post HERE. This was a super fun card to make and I just LOVE that Julie provided the templates for the different brick sizes. Unfortunately, all my white gels pens seemed to have dried up, so I used a white pencil for the highlights. It definitely would have looked better with a good gel pen. If anyone could suggest a good brand, I would appreciate it.

OWH sketch #180 card challenge

For this week's Operation Write Home card sketch, I made a card that's not my usual style. It's not an exact match of the original sketch, but it was the inspiration for my card. I started by flipping the sketch on it's side, then decided to build a scene using some fun die cuts and an embossing folder.

ODBD July Card Challenge

This month's Our Daily Bread Design card challenge is stitching, either real or faux. I've always loved the look of stitching on cards, especially with a sewing machine. Although, I haven't used mine in months and have been enjoying all the fun faux stitch die cuts available. But, after seeing this awesome card by Karen Giron, I decided to pull out the machine and CASE her card.

Cards in Envy Sketch #6 and MWT Color Challenge

This has been such a busy week, I was so grateful to have a few hours today to make some cards. My first card is for the Cards in Envy sketch challenge.

Here's my take on the sketch.

paper - Echo Park - Sweet Girl
stamps - Lawn Fawn and My Favorite Things
border die cuts - MFT Die-namics
heart diecuts - Lawn Fawn and Spellbinders
embossing folder - Lifestyle Crafts
twine - Darice Bakers Twine
Copics markers
Versafine ink

My second card is for the OWH Midweek Throwdown Color challenge of Red, White, Blue, and Kraft. Perfect color choices since it's Fourth of July tomorrow. I did have to cut into a new 6x6 since my current Echo Park Sweet Girl pad wouldn't work for the challenge. I'm also using this card for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and the OWH Bootcamp Let me Repeat challenge for the use of multiple stars.

paper - Authentique - Pride
stamp - The Stamps of Life
stitched die cuts - Lil Inker Designs
circle die cut - Spellbinders
star die cuts - Spellbinders

Thanks for visiting my blog today and have a safe and fun Fourth of July tomorrow!
