Silhouette farm

Since I don't enjoy coloring, I really like buying silhouette stamps. Today, I had a little bit of time to play with my newest silhouette stamp set from Sweet n Sassy stamps. I saw this sketch on Jan's blog recently and knew it would work perfectly with the farm image.

Here's a second silhouette card I had time to make today. And I will confess, I used a colored pencil to add the light around the lighthouse. It just needed the 'brightness' to match the sentiment.

OWH Tuesday Tutorial - One Sheet Wonder

The OWH Tuesday Tutorial was using one piece of double-sided 12 x 12 patterned paper to make 8 cards, with no scraps leftover. Definitely my kind of tutorial since I don't like having scraps of my patterned papers. The talented Seongsook provided the tutorial with a cutting template. Here is the link to her blog post.

And here are the 8 cards I made using the One Sheet Wonder tutorial.

OWH Midweek Throwdown x3 card challenge

This week's MWT is to use 3 of something on a card. I decided to make this cute birthday card using some fun balloon die cuts. And since I used different sizes and shapes of balloons, this card also works for the OWH Design Bootcamp Variety is the Spice of Life.

paper - My Mind's Eye - Blink of an Eye
scalloped oval - Spellbinders
balloon and banner die cuts - Lil' Inker Designs
stamp - Lil' Inker Designs
stitched rectangle die cut - Lil' Inker Designs
twine - Hemptique
Versafine ink

I also participated in the Cards in Envy challenge to Make Your Own Background. I used an embossing folder to make a cute cloud background to match my patterned paper. It doesn't show in the picture, but I added Glossy Accents to the blue stars to give them a little shine.

paper - Doodlebug - Stars and Stripes
stamp - Lil' Inker Designs
embossing folder - Stampin Up
banner die cut - Verve
star punch - Martha Stewart
Versafine ink

The third card I made is for the Flutter by Wednesday sketch challenge. I did change it from a square card to an A2 size.

stamp - The Stamps of Life
stitched die cuts - Lil' Inker Designs
twine - Hemptique

OWH sketch #173 card challenge

While making a card for the OWH weekly card sketch, I decided to do some paper piecing with some adorable Lawn Fawn stamps. I really started struggling with this card, though. That's what happens when I move out of my comfort zone. I think the card still turned out cute, but now I see how I should have placed items differently.

paper - My Mind's Eye - Blink of an Eye
stamp - Lawn Fawn
sunshine die cuts - Lil' Inker Designs
sentiment die cut - Savvydies.com

I then felt the need to do another card, this time using a sentiment as the focal point. (Which is definitely more my style.)

MWT - So Sentimental and Flutter by Wednesday #240

This week's OWH Midweek Throwdown challenge is So Sentimental. We are to use a sentiment as the focal point on our card. This is pretty simple for me since I mostly use sentiments, rather than images as my focal point.

stamp - Stamps of Life
ribbon - May Arts
die cuts - Spellbinders
Versafine ink

I also participated in this week's Flutter by Wednesday challenge. It is to use buttons on our card, along with  either a fairy or butterfly.

OWH VCMP Bonus Challenge

Sandy added a bonus challenge to the VCMP. The challenge is to make a card using googly eyes. I actually used them on my card for the 2nd challenge, but I decided to make another card. This weekend is the first time I've ever used googly eyes on cards. I think I like them. I just love this stamp set from Lawn Fawn, but what do you think. Does it work with googly eyes?

OWH VCMP Challenge #6 & #7

Challenge # 6 for the VCMP is by Julie. Her challenge is to make an AnyHero card using a photograph taken by us. I chose this picture of my daughter running around our front yard enjoying a sunny spring day. Having this picture will make it very easy to write the letter inside the card, because it provides the background for what I will write. And since it's any AnyHero card, I could use these really pretty, chunky brads that would be way to thick for a regular card.

paper - Authentique - Lively
embossing folder - Cuttlebug
brads - from stash

Challenge #7 is by JoAnn. Her challenge is to make a summertime card for our heroes to send to their families and friends. I figured a lovely firework display usually reminds us all of summertime.

OWH VCMP Challenge #4

The 4th challenge is by Nancy. Her challenge is to make a card using a scrapbooking sketch. She also suggested to do a scrapbook page first, using a scrapbooking sketch, then make a card using the same sketch with the leftover scraps. I was actually planning on working on this layout today anyway, so I just added in making a card.
The sketch I used is from Page Patterns, Volume 3.

Here's my scrapbook layout.

And here's my card using the same sketch, just slightly altered.

OWH VCMP - Challenge #3

The third challenge for the OWH VCMP is by Sandy. Her challenge is to make a romantic card using an OWH tutorial. Now technically, I use the 6x6 tutorial all the time. :) But I don't really count that one because it's just my style of card making. So I used the Ribbon Brad Trick tutorial on my love card.

National Scrapbook Day - OWH Style Challenges 1 & 2

Today is National Scrapbook Day! And while I do love scrapbooking, it's also a Virtual Card Making Party on OWH's Stars and Stamps blog. There will be 7 card challenge total over the weekend. And I love card challenges, so of course, I will be participating. (But in between challenges, I do plan to do a little scrapbooking, as well.)

The first challenge is by Our Daily Bread Design. Every month they will pay for 2 boxes of cards to be shipped to our heroes, if 50 people participate in the challenge. The May challenge is to make Miss You cards.

I added Glossy Accents to the star punches, but it's hard to see in the picture.
