OWH Sketch #166 card challenge

Happy Easter! It's a beautiful sunny day here in Washington state. We're even supposed to reach temperatures in the 70's today. That is not a common thing for us on Easter. For today's sketch, I decided to do some paper piecing on this cute little My Favorite Things bunny. And, I even used a Copic marker to outline the bunny and color the clouds. That is as fancy as I will get with Copics. (I only own 3.) The picture doesn't show it very well, but I added Glossy Accents to the puddle.

Using 6x6 paper pad with one sketch

I decided to try a 6x6 paper pad using just one card sketch. I've already cut up the entire pad and it will make 25 cards using this sketch. I do have some scrap pieces leftover that won't work with this sketch, so I will be using a different sketch later for those. I've only assembled one card so far, but I have all the pieces ready to go for the rest.

And here's the completed card.

paper - Fancy Pants - Park Bench
die cuts - My Favorite Things Die-Namics - Well Worn Greetings
stamps - My Favorite Things - Well Worn Greetings
Pearl Pen - Viva Decor
Versafine ink
card base - Int. Paper Accent Opaque Digital 100#

Here are the measurements for the card:
background patterned paper - 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
black matting for background patterned paper - 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
two small rectangles - 2" x 3"
black matting for small rectangles - 2 1/8" x 3 1/8"
yellow strip - 1" x 5"
black matting for yellow strip - 1 1/8" x 5 1/8"

OWH sketch #165 card challenge

I actually did two cards for this week's OWH card sketch. I had intended for the first card to be masculine, but I think the bow makes it feminine now.

Woodgrain Technique and Flutter by Wed. Sketch challenge

OWH's Tuesday Tutorial was how to make a wood grain background using an ink pad. It was actually very easy and I like how it came out.  I think next time I will try using a lighter color ink.

This week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is a sketch. I can never turn down a sketch, and this one is so pretty and fun. I also added in the ribbon/brad technique that Sandy from OWH showed on the Stars and Stamps blog last week.

OWH Design Bootcamp - Rule of Thirds

The OWH March Design Bootcamp is all about composition of your card using the rule of thirds, especially when it comes to the placement of a focal point. I thought last week's Mojo Monday sketch would work perfectly for a rule of thirds card. I'm also entering this card for the current challenge over at Cards in Envy. The challenge is to use paper strips in place of ribbon. I have tons of ribbon, but I have even more paper, so this was easy enough for me.

OWH MWT blue and green color challenge

This week's OWH Midweek Throwdown is a color challenge to use blue and green on a card. I'm also using this card for the Flutter By Wednesday challenge of Any Winged Creature. And this week it doesn't have to include a butterfly or fairy. So I thought this little puffin would work perfectly. I almost forgot to do a card for OWH's Design Bootcamp. The last one was to create a focal point on your card. For my card, the focal point is the cute little puffin, especially with all of the elements "pointing" right toward him.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Tic Tac Toe

This week's MWT on the OWH blog is to use the grid on the provided tic tac toe board to select three elements to include on your card.

I chose the top three elements; brads, border punch, and ribbon for my card. I'm also using this card for this week's Flutter by Wednesday challenge since it's an Open Challenge, as long as a fairy or butterfly is included on your card.

Spirelli Technique

This week's OWH tutorial is how to do spirelli, which is wrapping string or floss around a scalloped shape. I was already working on a few Mom cards and decided to add the spirelli to the small flower embellishment. I love how it turned out. I was making four of these cards, but ran out of black embroidery floss. I did have just enough to completely finish one card, and the others will have to wait until I get some more floss. I also got to play with my new Paper Smooches notecard die cut. I CASEd a card from Paper Smooches DT Laurie Scmidlin since I loved the sketch she used.

Authentique's Renew 6x6 Paper Pad

Grand total of 37 cards from this 6x6. As usual, most of these cards are being sent to Operation Write Home, so I made lots of Mother's Day and general Mom cards.

Lots of cards were made for different card challenges.

I made 12 of these Mother's Love cards. This is a digi sentiment by Paulette with TLC Creations.

Check out my 6x6 paper pad tutorial video HERE.
