OWH MWT Happy Birthday card challenge

This week's Midweek Throwdown on Operation Write Home's blog is to make birthday cards for our heroes to send home to their family and friends. I'm currently making cards from Echo Park's Love Story 6x6, so my card is definitely feminine. This was the first time playing with the border die cut from My Favorite Things. I thought it would be pretty to weave some May Arts wrinkle ribbon through the holes. I like how it turned out.

OWH Design Bootcamp Analogous Color Card

Look at me go, two blog posts in one day! Here's my final color harmony card, and the one I struggled with the most. I think it works though with the blue-green, green, and lighter green colors. I CASE'd this card from Jen from The Cat's Meow because I just loved the sketch design.

OWH Design Bootcamp Complementary Color Card

I completed my second card for the color challenge from OWH's Design Bootcamp. I used the complementary color harmony of green and purple. These aren't colors I use often for cards. I even combined papers from two different 6x6 paper pads, which isn't something I usually do. But I think it worked fine and I got to play with some fun new balloon die cuts from Lil' Inker Designs.

OWH MWT Easter card challenge

This week's OWH Midweek Throwdown challenge is to make Easter cards for our Heroes to send home to their families. I decided to go for more of an elegant style card to focus on the real meaning of Easter. The cross is cut out of a shiny metallic silver paper, but it's hard to see how pretty it looks in the picture. I added some silver Pearl pen to direct the focus on the cross. And since I didn't have a sentiment stamp that fit the size I wanted, I just printed my own with Microsoft Word.

Monochromatic card for OWH Design Bootcamp

Today was the first day of OWH's Design Bootcamp. The lesson was about basic color theory. The assignment was to make a card using either monochromatic, analogous, or complementary color harmony. I chose to do a monochromatic card first. (I think I'll try one of each later this week.)

I did it. I started a blog!

I kept saying I wouldn't ever start a blog. I'm really not a computer person and the idea of keeping up a blog just scares me. I would rather spend time making cards, not blogging. But since I enjoy participating in card challenges, I started a Flickr account last year. Unfortunately, the free account only displays the 200 most current uploaded pictures, and I am super close to that limit. So rather than pay for unlimited uploads, I gave in and started this blog. It will mainly be to share my card creations as I continue to participate in card challenges. And since pink is my favorite color, I thought it would be fitting to start with a pretty pink thank you card.
